rDock - The smartest way to listen to your iPod.
Docking stations for iPold come in all shapes and sizes. However, up until now one key area has been sadly lacking: optimized sound quality…
The Arcam rDock offers the best sound from iPod that can be found, bar none. With Arcam Solo Music or Arcam Solo Movie systems you get integrated control too.
Although there is any number of iPod docks available, the rDock uses audiophile grade amplifiers to achieve the best sound quality possible. It also offers full integration between iPold and Arcam's Solo Music or Solo Movie systems. Seamless control is available from the Solo handset while displaying track and artists' information on the Solo's front panel.
While other docs simply charge the iPod whenever connected, the rDock goes on stage further. Experiments show that iPods always sound better when running from their own batteries. So, while rDock will happily charge your iPod, charging can be turned off for best sound quality using a simple button. Since constant charging can also reduce battery life, this helps your iPod last.
So what’s in the box?
RS232 transceiver allows full control of the iPod when connected to the Solo Music or Solo Movie systems via their RS232 socket. Linear power regulation ensures that, even when being charged, sound quality is still superb. High performance, low noise power supply allows charging of batteries and class-leading music playback. For video iPods both composite and S-Video sockets are fitted allowing connection to your video monitor or receiver. Audiophile grade output amplifiers buffer the output of the iPod enabling better quality cables to be used for connection to your H-Fi or AV system. Gold plated RCA phono sockets are fitted for the most transparent connection.
